As a first time mother, I wanted to
have the things that best fit my baby. Things that will also make my life easier and to tell you honestly I’ve bought lots of them; be it toiletries, formula milk, clothes and other baby garments. I also see to it that the brand that I’m going to use is well fitted for my baby that is why sometimes I end up buying the same thing on a different brand.
With all the things that I have bought, only a few of them are actually useful. Some of them are just out of my COMPULSIVE BUYING decisions that oh well — not a good habit.
Now here are the things that I’m glad I’m using. Take note that I am not recommending this garments for you to buy as well. We have different tastes and this is just for you to have a background on things that are available here in Japan. Also, the items listed here are bought from our own pocket.
E-akachan and Hagukumi formula milk
Breastmilk is best for babies. I strongly suggest breastfeeding your babies up to 2 years old but if you are a mom like me whose baby doesn’t want to feed on your tits no matter what! then we’ve got no choice but to feed them with formula milk. There are lots of formula milk available on the market and sometimes your birthing clinic or hospital will give you samples to try on for your baby.
In my case, they didn’t give me samples because Ethan already used all of it when he was admitted for 2 weeks after birth. The hospital he was admitted to is using a different brand which is Glico; the アイクレオ. but later on when he was discharged I found out that the milk makes him constipated. I switched to e-akachan from Morinaga, an anti- allergy milk which makes it expensive. This milk makes him fart all the time and Has a watery poop. So I decided to switch again from the same brand when he was 5 months old which is the hagukumi.
What I like about this brand is that they have the ecorakupak, it is easy to throw away rather than the one in cans. I recommend buying them in amazon.jp with their otoku bin you can save a lot! Some of the Formula milk here in Japan also have a sachet version which makes it easier when you are out or traveling.
- Moony Diaper and Moony (Bum) Wet Tissue
He wears them as a hat too 😂
Ethan is a fan of Moony! A product from unicharm. What I love about this is aside from their cute prints, their product is very soft and gentle for baby’s skin. Also, they have this feature which is called airfit. Airfit diapers have this extra pocket that everytime they pee or poop, that pocket will expand and will not trap the moisture in your baby’s private area that will cause rashes.
I have tried a cheaper version of moony which is the momypoko but I find it rough and it leaks. There is a time when Ethan was in his car seat and pooped. The thing is, it leaked out of his diaper upto his back. What a disaster! We were forced to buy him new clothes that day.
- Chuchu Baby Silicon Nipple
What I love about this is that its a one size nipple and does not spill even if you turn it upside down. The amount of milk coming out from it will only depend on your baby’s sucking power. Ethan has been using it since birth.
- Ergo Adapt Baby Carrier
We loved this! This baby carrier can be used from birth to toddler years. Other Ergo carriers can also be used from 0 mos but you need to buy an infant seat that is sold separately. While the Ergo adapt you just need to adjust the seat size according to your baby’s age.
- ママ鼻水トッテ ( mama hana mizu totte / baby nasal aspirator )
I never knew that I could actually do nasal aspiration on Ethan on my own. Whenever I need to help him with clearing his airways, I just put the other end on his nose and suck the mucose out with the mouthpiece on the other end of the tube. A must have for all mothers out there so you could help them with breathing everytime they need to.
- Pigeon hair shampoo ( foam type) and J&J body wash (foam type)
I have a couple of things from Pigeon such as the feeding bottles , breast pump and body wash ( Pigeon fan here) but later on changed to J&J because Ethan smells funny with the Pigeon body wash. You might be wondering why I am using a shampoo on Ethan’s hair that is because when he was 3 months old, he had a bad cradle cap and later on find out that the body and hair wash are making his scalp dry.
- Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo
- Babybreeza Baby Food Maker
Good thing I found out about this product on youtube. It was availabe on amazon.jp, it’s so expensive and not practical to buy but I saw it on mercari ( second hand but used for like 10 times only). I saved 40% of the original price. Lucky! What I love about this is that you can set it on automatic mode; it will smash the veggies/fruits after steaming.
- Podee feeding bottle
This handsfree bottle has its pros and cons but I am going to list it anyway. For me, this is best for babies that already knows how to sit and for toddlers. The product claims to be colic free, prevents ear infection and reflux. Babies and toddlers can feed in an upright position that will avoid neck strain.I will make a review on this on a separate post.
these are the things I love using for my baby, how about yours? 😘
