Efficiently Erase Your Google Drive Recents- A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Delete Recents on Google Drive

Google Drive is a widely-used cloud storage service that allows users to store, share, and access their files from any device. One of the convenient features of Google Drive is the “Recents” section, which displays the files you have recently accessed. However, if you find that this feature is cluttering your account or you simply want to keep your files organized, deleting the recents is a straightforward process. In this article, we will guide you through the steps on how to delete recents on Google Drive.

Step 1: Open Google Drive

The first step to deleting recents on Google Drive is to open the Google Drive app or visit the Google Drive website. If you are using the Google Drive app, you can find it on your smartphone or tablet. For the web version, simply open your web browser and go to drive.google.com.

Step 2: Access the Recents Section

Once you are logged into your Google Drive account, you will see a list of files and folders on the left-hand side of the screen. Look for the “Recents” section, which is usually located near the top of the list. Click on it to view the files you have recently accessed.

Step 3: Select the Files You Want to Delete

In the Recents section, you will see a list of files and folders that you have accessed recently. To delete a file, simply click on the checkbox next to the file’s name. You can select multiple files by holding down the “Ctrl” (Command on Mac) key and clicking on each file you want to delete.

Step 4: Delete the Files

After selecting the files you want to delete, click on the “More” button (three dots) located at the top right corner of the Recents section. From the dropdown menu, choose “Delete.” A confirmation dialog will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion. Click “Delete” again to proceed.

Step 5: Confirm Deletion

A second confirmation dialog will appear, asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected files. Click “Delete” one more time to permanently remove the files from your Google Drive account.

Step 6: Clear Recents Cache

If you want to remove all the recent files from your Google Drive account, you can clear the recents cache. To do this, go to the Google Drive website and click on the gear icon in the upper right corner to access the Settings menu. In the Settings menu, click on “General” and then scroll down to the “Recents” section. Click on “Clear Recents” and confirm the action.

By following these simple steps, you can easily delete recents on Google Drive and keep your account organized. Remember that deleted files are moved to the trash, so you can still recover them if needed. Happy organizing!
