Outlook is a powerful email client that allows users to manage their emails, calendars, and contacts efficiently. One of the features that Outlook offers is the ability to view recent attachments. However, sometimes these recent attachments can clutter your inbox or take up unnecessary space on your device. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to remove recent attachments in Outlook.

1. Access the Recent Attachments Folder

To remove recent attachments in Outlook, you first need to access the Recent Attachments folder. This folder is where Outlook stores a list of all the attachments you have recently opened or downloaded. To access this folder, follow these steps:

– Open Outlook and click on the “File” tab in the upper-left corner of the window.
– Select “Open & Export” from the dropdown menu, and then choose “Open Outlook Data File.”
– In the “Open Outlook Data File” dialog box, click on “Outlook Data File (.pst)” and then click “OK.”
– In the “Select Outlook Data File” dialog box, navigate to the location where your Outlook data file is stored, select it, and click “Open.”
– Once the data file is open, you will see a list of folders on the left-hand side of the window. Scroll down and click on the “Recent Attachments” folder.

2. Remove Attachments from the Recent Attachments Folder

Now that you have accessed the Recent Attachments folder, you can remove the attachments you no longer need. Here’s how to do it:

– In the Recent Attachments folder, you will see a list of all the recent attachments you have opened or downloaded.
– To remove an attachment, simply right-click on it and select “Delete” from the context menu.

– In the Recent Attachments folder, click on the “Deleted Items” folder on the left-hand side of the window.
– Right-click on the “Deleted Items” folder and select “Empty Folder” from the context menu.
– A confirmation dialog box will appear. Click “Yes” to confirm the deletion.

5. Close the Outlook Data File

After you have successfully removed the recent attachments and emptied the Deleted Items folder, close the Outlook Data File by clicking on the “File” tab, selecting “Close & Exit,” and then choosing “Close All.”
