How to Take Off Digital Crown on Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has become an essential accessory for many users, offering a wide range of functionalities and features. One of the most distinctive features of the Apple Watch is the Digital Crown, which serves as a physical button for navigating through the watch’s interface. However, there may come a time when you need to remove the Digital Crown for various reasons, such as cleaning or replacing it. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to take off the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch.

Step 1: Gather the Necessary Tools

Before attempting to remove the Digital Crown, it is essential to gather the necessary tools. You will need a T6 Torx screwdriver, a spudger, and a small flathead screwdriver. These tools can be easily found online or at a local hardware store.

Step 2: Power Off Your Apple Watch

To ensure that you do not accidentally press any buttons while working on your Apple Watch, it is crucial to power it off. Press and hold the side button until the “Power Off” slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your watch.

Step 3: Remove the Back Cover

Using the T6 Torx screwdriver, remove the two screws located at the bottom of the Apple Watch’s back cover. Place the screws aside, as you will need them later. Gently slide the back cover off the watch, starting from the bottom and working your way up.

Step 4: Disconnect the Battery

Locate the battery connector on the back of the Apple Watch. Using the spudger, gently disconnect the battery from the watch’s internal components. Be cautious while handling the battery to avoid any damage.

Step 5: Remove the Digital Crown

With the battery disconnected, you can now remove the Digital Crown. Using the small flathead screwdriver, carefully remove the four screws holding the Digital Crown in place. Set the screws aside.

Step 6: Detach the Digital Crown

With the screws removed, gently pull the Digital Crown away from the watch’s body. Be cautious while doing this to avoid damaging any internal components.

Step 7: Reassemble the Apple Watch

Now that you have successfully removed the Digital Crown, you can proceed to reassemble the Apple Watch. Begin by reconnecting the battery using the spudger. Then, place the Digital Crown back into its position and secure it with the four screws. Reattach the back cover, and use the T6 Torx screwdriver to tighten the two screws.

Step 8: Power On Your Apple Watch

With the Digital Crown reinstalled, you can now power on your Apple Watch. Press and hold the side button until the Apple Watch logo appears on the screen.
